It's been a while since we've blogged! Much has happened in Anderson's little life so far! Three days after our discharge from the Rose Medical Center NICU we found ourselves at the Parker Children's Hospital Emergency Department. Anderson had been eating and had some blueness around his mouth and in his feet and hands which gave me a scare. So off the the emergency department we went. Anderson was also born with a murmur (extra sound in his heart) that we were told was benign and nothing to worry about. But that murmur coupled with the blueness lead our pediatrician to request that we go to the ED. Being a pediatric cardiac RN this was my worst nightmare. We were admitted overnight in Parker and then transferred the next morning via ambulance to the main Children's Hospital where I work. We were admitted to the NICU where we received excellent care. Several tests and another day later we were reassured that Anderson's murmur is indeed benign and the blueness was probably due to reflux. So, we now hold him up for 30 minutes after feedings and it seems to work. He is doing well and thriving! Our pediatrician has reassured us that he is a healthy baby. He's already gained 1 lb and 1 oz! It's taken Brad and I a little while to feel that confident but we are getting there!
We love having Anderson and are finding out just how hard parenting is! We now have a new found respect for our own parents! :) We can't wait to watch our little guy grow up! We hope you enjoy watching him too!
Here are some new photos!
